The Challenge

DSC01229Note on the novel:

At this point in the story, Jett and Ace, along with their girlfriends, have been dealing with some major personal issues.

Ace asked, “You gonna be able to get through group?”

Jett responded, “Yeah, I’ve got to get Centered. I need to get as much out of these last two sessions as possible. I think I’m gonna need all the skills I can muster to keep going with my own healing and to ‘be there’ for Eden (Jett’s girlfriend).”

Ace looked off into the distance and said, “We’ve come a long way Jett. It’s a whole new way of life for me and I’m still scared. The four of us (Jett, Eden and April, Ace’s girlfriend) have a lot of work to do, but we’re gonna make it. We’ll all help Eden and keep supporting and encouraging each other.” We hugged and went back inside.

You have been training to go to Center to quiet your Focker, relax your body, focus on the moment, discover your home at Center, strengthen Centered thoughts, learn strategies to deal with challenging situations, intrusive memories and implant your Centered way of understanding and thinking about your life. Do a Centering Meditation and I’ll let you know when to open your eyes. (About ten minutes) (Group Discussion)

You have practiced going to Center everyday for the past weeks. Some of you may have gotten good enough at just closing your eyes and going there without using the breathing. Remember that sometimes it will be more challenging to get to Center. Deep breathing in my view is the core skill to help with getting Centered.
